Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the MedBilling Fee Desk app for iPhone, iPad and Android, and to the web version at feedesk.medibrisa.com. MedBilling Fee Desk is made by Medibrisa Software Ltd.
By using MedBilling Fee Desk you also agree to the Terms of use, which include the medical/billing disclaimer, limitation of liability and governing law. The summary of those protections appears in sections B–D below.
A. Privacy and data practices
Native app (iPhone, iPad, Android): Data Not Collected. MedBilling Fee Desk does not collect personal information or patient information through the app.
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.
- Your settings, favourites and recent codes stay on your device.
- We do not sell, rent or share app-collected information, because the native app does not collect any.
What stays on your device
- The fee schedules, codes and rules are stored inside the app. Searching runs entirely on your device, works offline, and what you type is never sent anywhere by the app.
- Your chosen province or territory, fee skill or specialty, favourites (including the names of any favourite groups you create, such as a specialty or a doctor's name you type as a label) and recently viewed codes are saved only in the app's local storage on your device. We cannot see them.
- On Android they are excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. On iPhone and iPad they may be part of your own device backup, which only you control.
- They are deleted when you clear them in the app (Recent → Clear, or remove a ★ favourite) or when you uninstall the app.
- The app never asks for patient names, personal health numbers (PHN), dates of birth, chart numbers or claim numbers. Do not enter patient or claim identifiers anywhere in the app or in emails to us.
Things that happen only when you choose them
- Links to official sources and reference sites (for example government fee schedule PDFs, PubMed or the WHO ICD browsers) open in your device's browser or an in-app browser view. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
- Ask SI opens an outside SI website that you pick. The prompt contains only the billing code, its description, the fee skill or specialty and the schedule date — never patient details and never what you typed in the search box. For some sites (for example Gemini), the app copies the prompt to your device's clipboard so you can paste it in. Nothing is sent until you paste and submit it yourself. You use that site under your own account and its privacy policy applies.
- Share and Export favourites use your device's share sheet. The shared text or file contains only codes, descriptions, dates, fees and the names of any favourite groups you created. You decide where it goes. Import reads a file you pick and keeps it on the device.
- Suggest a change in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps opens your own email app with a message addressed to admin@medibrisa.com. Nothing is sent unless you write and send that email yourself.
Web version
- The web version is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We do not receive or use those logs for identifying you.
- On the web version, Suggest a change opens your own email app with a message addressed to admin@medibrisa.com. Nothing is sent unless you send it from your email app, and no form service or other third party receives your message. Please do not include patient information.
- The web version saves its offline copy and your favourites in your browser's storage on your device.
If you email us
If you write to us, we receive only what you choose to send (your email address and your message). We use it only to reply and to fix or improve the app. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not sell or share it for marketing. We delete it when it is no longer needed, or sooner if you ask.
Permissions
The app uses no permissions other than internet access, which is needed only to open the links above. It does not use your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, calendar or health data.
Children
MedBilling Fee Desk is a professional reference for physicians and billing staff. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your privacy rights in Canada
We follow the principles of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Because the native app does not collect personal information, we have none from the app to give you access to, correct or delete. If you have emailed us or used the web feedback form, you can ask what we have and ask us to delete it. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
If you live in Quebec, you may have additional rights under Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. To make a privacy request, email admin@medibrisa.com.
Outside Canada
If you live outside Canada, you may have privacy rights under the laws where you live. Because the native app collects no personal information, those rights apply only to emails you send us. To make a request, email admin@medibrisa.com. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where Canadian privacy law requires a different form of consent.
Jurisdictions and content licences
Each jurisdiction's source, edition and licence or credit line is shown in the app footer and on the Resources tab.
- Open or published licences (live): Alberta (Open Government Licence – Alberta), Manitoba (OpenMB Information and Data Use Licence), Saskatchewan, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Newfoundland and Labrador (each government's published reproduction terms; non-commercial where those terms require it).
- MedBilling Fee Desk does not include fee schedules for British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island.
- MedBilling Fee Desk does not include a fee schedule for Nunavut.
B. Medical and billing disclaimer
MedBilling Fee Desk is a billing-code reference only. It is not medical advice, not clinical decision support, not a diagnosis or treatment tool, and not a medical device under Health Canada rules. It does not submit claims, adjudicate benefits or guarantee payment.
- It is an independent tool made by Medibrisa Software Ltd. It is not an official version of any fee schedule and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a service of Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, any other ministry or health authority, medical association or insurer.
- Fee schedules, codes, fees, modifiers, rules and diagnostic lists change. The app may contain errors, omissions or out-of-date material. Edition and "last checked" dates are shown in the app where available; they do not guarantee currency.
- You remain solely responsible for coding, billing, documentation and claim submission. Always verify codes, fees, modifiers, diagnostic codes and rules against the current official schedule and your own records before you submit a claim.
- Suggested diagnostic codes, fee-skill scopes and any SI prompts are the app's own aids (or third-party tools you open), not government rules and not a substitute for professional judgment.
- The app does not constitute legal, accounting, tax, insurance or professional billing advice.
C. Limitation of liability / as-is
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- MedBilling Fee Desk and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties or representations of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, currency, uninterrupted or error-free operation.
- Medibrisa Software Ltd. and anyone involved in creating or distributing the app are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, or for loss of revenue, claim denials, audits, recoveries, professional opportunity, data or goodwill, arising from use of (or inability to use) the app or reliance on its content — even if advised of the possibility of such loss.
- If liability cannot be fully excluded, our total liability for all claims relating to the app is limited, to the extent the law allows, to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim (normally CA$0, because the app is free) and (b) CA$100.
- Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; in those places, the above applies only to the extent permitted. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be waived under Alberta or Canadian consumer-protection law.
Full terms, including indemnity and acceptable use, are in the Terms of use.
D. Governing law (Alberta / Canada)
This policy and your use of MedBilling Fee Desk are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any non-waivable rights you may have, the courts of Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from the app or this policy.
